Go for the pig knuckles or the mussels, both of which will require a pint or two.
Unpretentious yet classy, Taverne Dominion offers an A-1 take on brasserie food while giving you all the required ingredients for a true tavern experience.
Located at 1243 Metcalfe in downtown Montreal.

hey Doctor!
by chance I checked out your blog and went to Taverne Dominion last night with three friends. 1st of all, what a gorgeous staff! and we were all really impressed with the decor of the place. A real brasserie.. they even had a ladder on a track to reach the higher bottles behind the bar…super cool!
i had the braised lamb shank in a pea/barley/carrot bed and the meat fell right off the bone. all this for $20 and the plate was pretty big. we ordered fries with housemade mayo (yummy) on the side and we had some super tasty entrees. the salmon gravlax with these mini crepes and sour cream was delicious and the corn fritters were a nice complement for appetizers. 1 of my friends had the roasted chicken stew and the other had roasted cod…both perfectly cooked and presented well.
the bathrooms! wow, talk about old-school but with a modern and clean approach. the entire crowd in the diner was cool and stylish…everyone smiled when you walk by! great experience and super happy to find a great inexpensive restaurant in the heart of downtown mtl!
thanx Doc!
