Rock Supergroup Them Crooked Vultures are in concert tonight in Montreal at Metropolis, Wednesday May 12th 2010. While the show was originally slated to be at the CEPSUM Arena, Metropolis is the new venue. The band, formed in Los Angeles in 2009 features John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl and Josh Homme.
Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana, later formed the Foo Fighters and has worked with Queens of the Stone Age and his heavy metal side project Probot, and has performed session work for a variety of musicians, including Killing Joke, Tenacious D, Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy and Slash.
Josh Homme was a founding member of the stoner metal band Kyuss, as well as the founding and only continuous member of the hard rock band Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA), in which he mainly sings and plays guitar. In 2010, Homme publicly stated he will concentrate his efforts on Them Crooked Vultures over all other projects.
Best known as the bassist, mandolinist, and keyboardist for English rock band Led Zeppelin, Jean Paul Jones has since developed a solo career and has gained even more respect as both a musician and a producer. He plays the bass, piano and other instruments.
The supergroup released their first single “New Fang”, and their debut, self-titled album on 17 November 2009.
The show is sold out and will definitely attract a serious groupie following tonight!
